got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
He didn’t need to befriend every good player in the league or link up with anybody who became a free agent. Rose hasn’t found that he needs a nickname or carefully crafted image.
He’s a doer, a leader, charismatic in a way perhaps only Chicagoans understand — without smiling and clowning and dancing and posing, kind of like a young Dick Butkus. He has represented Chicago in a way even Michael Jordan couldn’t.
Jordan is an adopted son, Rose a native son.

We love you, Derrick! <3
Please recover as soon as possible.
after seeing my team falling down 2 consecutive losses (last time in feb 2011) i really want to see rose get back in the courts. we definitely need our leader back out there.

adidas adiZero Rose 2.5 - School of Hard Knocks
words // Brandon Richard
On the heels of last night’s step back buzzer beater in Milwaukee, adidas Basketball has officially unveiled the “School of Hard Knocks” adiZero Rose 2.5, which D-Rose debuted during the second half of the 2012 NBA All-Star Game.
The colorway has been linked to his time at Simeon Career Academy and the University of Memphis, but is in fact inspired by his upbringing in the rough Southside Chicago neighborhood of Englewood. There, Derrick began his path to the NBA by honing his craft at Murray Park, known for attracting ballers with physical styles of play. Tumbled, full-grain black leather and luxury blue nubuck not only rep Rose’s hometown, but provide a smooth off-court look.
You can pick up a pair today at Eastbay and Foot Locker.
